Comparatives
So sánh hơn (comparative) và so sánh nhất (superlative) dùng để so sánh hai hay nhiều đối tượng.
1Tính từ ngắn (1 âm tiết): thêm -er / -est
Comparative: adj + er + than. Superlative: the + adj + est. Tính từ kết thúc 'e': chỉ thêm -r/-st. CVC: nhân đôi phụ âm cuối.
- →fast → faster → fastest
- →nice → nicer → nicest
- →big → bigger → biggest
2Tính từ dài (≥ 2 âm tiết): more / most
Comparative: more + adj + than. Superlative: the most + adj.
- →interesting → more interesting → the most interesting
- →beautiful → more beautiful → the most beautiful
3Tính từ 2 âm tiết kết thúc -y: đổi y → i + er/est
Áp dụng cho easy, happy, busy, pretty...
- →happy → happier → happiest
- →easy → easier → easiest
4Bất quy tắc
Phải học thuộc.
- →good → better → best
- →bad → worse → worst
- →far → farther/further → farthest/furthest
- →many/much → more → most
Memory tips
- •So sánh ngang bằng: as + adj + as. Phủ định: not as/so + adj + as.
- •'than' đi với so sánh hơn, 'the' đi với so sánh nhất.
